LABS – FREE Piano and Strings VST from Spitfire Audio

LABS – FREE Piano and Strings VST from Spitfire Audio A few months ago Spitfire Audio had announced they were preparing an audio library for release on their own platform, and just recently they finally delivered. LABS – an acronym for Let’s All Be Something – is now available to download for FREE from the LABS website. The plugin comes in VST/AU form as it is now a standalone plugin as opposed to previously only being operable in Kontakt. The plan is to release new instruments every month, but for now, you can utilize the Soft Piano and String libraries. Soft Piano is the first library available and is described as, “Recorded at Air Edel Studios, this sound has become a favourite of music makers across the globe. The soft tone is achieved by placing a thin strip of felt between the hammers and the strings.” Check out the video below …

Wavepeek – FREE Max4Live Synthesizer

Wavepeek – FREE Max4Live Synthesizer Today we’re sharing a FREE Max4Live device with Y’all made by the developer Dirk de Bruin. We’ve included the video of the beta version of the synth in action so you could an idea of what it sounds like before you download, but take it from us – this synth is dope. In an era where waveshaping plugins like Massive and Serum rule the studios, Wavepeek is an amazing contender provider FOR FREE PEOPLE. It’s FREE. The interface is colourful and pretty but not at the cost of simplicity. It’s pretty easy to follow with 4 oscillators that you can shape and mix together. After playing around with it for a few minutes I could already tell I would be returning to this device A LOT. It has character without the need for further processing, but if you choose to then it will easily stand above other plugins you’ve …

Whirl by Sinevibes – Unique Infinite Phaser Plugin

Whirl by Sinevibes – Unique Infinite Phaser Plugin Sinevibe recently released an awesome Phaser effect plugin that offers some very unique settings, which they say allow for ‘Barber Pole’ effects. “Barber-pole effects” mean that the phaser sweeps up and down endlessly in the frequency spectrum. Here is what Sinevibes has stated about the effect, “Whirl is a plugin for creating “barber-pole” phaser effects – with spectrum sweeps that go upwards or downwards in a seemingly endless fashion. It includes two distinctly different modes: first is a classic phaser based on the Bode frequency shifter that creates dramatic, wide-range spectrum swirls. Second mode is our unique development: a barber-pole all-pass phaser which uses three sound layers coupled with six modulation oscillators, producing a much more full-bodied effect with distinct resonant peaks. Both phasers in Whirl employ “through-zero frequency” modulation design for silky smooth transition between upwards and downwards sweeps, plus they …

Lazerwave – FREE Waveshaping Synth

Lazerwave – FREE Waveshaping Synth Ldaysynths has just released Lazerwave, a FREE waveshaping synthesizer for 32-bit Windows platform. Lazerwave is a polyphonic synth based on using triangle waves in its three oscillators. This plugin can make some pretty decent sounds and has a unique interface to offer with its visual waveshaper. The visual editor has 8 bars that can be adjusted to shape the sound, it acts similar to an envelope. Then there are 2 internal LFOs that can modulate the pitch of the oscillators. The filter section includes a resonant low-pass filter and high-pass filter, unfortunately, that resonance cannot be adjusted. The LPF can be modulated by the internal step-sequencer and can be set to synchronise with the DAW tempo or in a freely adjustable mode. Lazerwave includes an internal delay effect that can be set to mono, stereo, and ping pong delay modes. Lazerwave brings forth a simple …

Maths – FREE Plugin from SocaLabs

Maths – FREE Plugin from SocaLabs Socalabs recently released a wild plugin called Maths. Maths is a FREE plugin and quite different from plugins you may be used to seeing as it produces no explicit effect but works based on user input formulas. These formulas operate as functions and process the audio signal based on your equations. The interface lacks sliders and faders dedicated to singular purposes but instead features two function boxes dedicated to the left and right stereo channels and four knobs that can be assigned parameters. The knobs are capable of being automated within your DAW for further customization. Maths features 25 built-in functions, fourteen operators, and one ternary operator; together these make it a powerful plugin if you’re up for the challenge. Admittedly, this is going to have a steep learning curve if you are inexperienced in the math department. However, those music makers out there comfortable …
