Should I Buy It? – D16 Audio Effects Review

Should I Buy It? – D16 Audio Effects Review This week Yeuda reviews the effects plugins made by an amazing company, D16 Group Audio. In the video, he goes over eight different effects which we then breakdown below. D16 makes some really great stuff that comes at a great price point, there are a few favorites that stuck out but all in all, we love what we saw. Watch below, then read our score breakdowns below that.     Breakdowns     Decimort 2 is the updated version of the original Decimort, a bit crusher with major attitude. D16’s plugins all share a similar aesthetic which is really nice. We’ve said it before and will maintain that we like that move. It makes using multiple plugins from the same company easier. Decimort 2 has quite a bit of flexibility without adding on any dead weight. There’s an input filter, a

Should I Buy It? – VPS Avenger Review

Should I Buy It? – VPS Avenger Review This week Yeuda covers the VPS Avenger, also known as the Vengeance Producer Suite Avenger. This plugin is by and large he most comprehensive production tool ever created. Of the products we’ve covered, it’s the first to receive a full 10 out of 10 rating. It’s a synthesizer, it’s a production suite, it’s everything you’ve ever wanted. Watch the video below to hear Yeuda’s stance on it, and read below that for a quick tutorial.       Overview VPS Avenger is built in a similar fashion to some of the previous synthesizers we’ve covered. It is built around a series of modules that control the sound generation, filtering, effects, modulation, and any extra features. We’ve seen this style more and more as the newest generation of plugins emerges that attempt to do it all. We can confidently say that Avenger does

Should I Buy It? – United Plugins Review

Should I Buy It? – United Plugins Review In this week’s episode of “Should I Buy It?” Yeuda takes a look at five plugins under the United Plugins umbrella. United Plugins is a cohort oof plugin developers that banded together, they are – FireSonic, Sounddevice Digital, JMG Sound, and MeldaProduction. We’ve covered MeldaProduction’s products in the past on the blog, so this time we’re going at it with a new perspective. Watch the review video below, and read the breakdown below that.     Breakdowns     The first plugin we’ll break down is FrontDAW by Soundevice Digital. This plugin emulates analog channel strips with the intention being to put it in the FRONT of your effects chain. It adds a subtle saturation to your audio signal, which sounds pretty good. There are three different saturation models – US, British, German. Each model recreates the classic sounds from each country’s

Should I Buy It? – Parawave Rapid Review

Should I Buy It? – Parawave Audio Rapid Review In this edition of Should I Buy It? Yeuda takes a dive into the multi-faceted synthesizer – Rapid. Parawave audio is the company responsible for this incredible softsynth, and they really went above and beyond here. Rapid is a plugin that combines the output of eight individual synthesizer layers, each of these layers can be modulated, effected, morphed, and mangled. The result is an enormous synthesizer that required our longest video yet, a whopping 30 minutes, and will certainly fill any synth void you have. Watch the video review below, and read our breakdown after that.     Overview The power behind Rapid relies on the EIGHT configurable layers of synthesizers in the plugin. Each layer has a synthesizer with 3 oscillators in it. Each of those oscillators has the option to perform sampling or wavetable synthesis. Let’s do the math –

Should I Buy It? – House of Kush Review

Should I Buy It? – House of Kush Review This week we’ve got a real treat for you, we’ll be covering more than half of Kush Audio’s entire lineup of audio plugins. Kush Audio has been in the game awhile and they have always created high-quality products, so, we decided to try out as much as of the product line as we could. In the video below Yeuda goes over NINE plugins that range from mixing tools like EQs and compressors to Harmonic sweeteners and a Reverb. He gives you realtime examples on a track he’s been producing. Watch below, and read our breakdown below that.         The Novatron is a Varitone Tube Compressor that models a combination of classic analog compressors. It features a straightforward interface that puts your focus on the Attack, Compress (this is also the Threshold), and Release knobs. Those are the heart

Should I Buy It? – DS Thorn Synthesizer Review

Should I Buy It? – DS Thorn Synthesizer Review DS Thorn is a Spectral synthesizer plugin designed by Dmitry Sches (hence the DS before Thorn). Yeuda goes over the synthesizer and boy it seems amazing, we think you’ll be excited too. Watch the video review below, and read the walkthrough below that.     General Interface     Thorn’s interface leans heavily toward a utilitarian aesthetic, favoring skeuomorphic design (the knobs look lifelike) over the alternatives. This results in a plugin that looks cluttered with all the many parameters you are able to adjust, and a bit dated. One of the best parts of Thorn is that you can map every single parameter to a modulator! Unfortunately, the plugin lacks visualization of those mappings so it can hard to keep track of everything as your routings become more complex. What we have are five major sections of the plugin. On
