We wrote an article a year ago when they offered the first version for free, and we loved it. We were very excited to see what the update had brought and were not disappointed. So what is the plugin? Well, it is a playable instrument filled with 720 drum patterns ranging across 30 various styles of music. The samples were all recorded from 5 drum kits each with 6 different ‘character’ styles. The acoustic kit sounds pretty darn good and can be modulated to mix in some electronic drums. The last time we wrote about Spitfire Audio’s Let’s All Be Something (LABS) free instrument series we covered their Electric Piano. Well, it’s been a few months and they’ve been churning out instruments since then. In this article, we’ll cover the latest in a series of instruments from the plugin maker. Charango The first instrument to come after the LABS Electric Piano was Charango. The Charango is a stringed instrument similar to a guitar, but native to the Andean culture. It is in the lute family of stringed instruments. It has ten strings that come arranged in five groups of two. This charango — an Andean guitar-like instrument — was recorded back in 2006 by Christian Henson on a KM184 mic in his Soho flat, played by his brother Joe. This was the instrument that inspired Christian and Paul to create Spitfire Audio. It plays quite smoothly for a stringed instrument which can always be tricky …

LABS is a free series of virtual instruments based on sample libraries recorded for use in rompler software instruments. Each instrument has an easy to use interface and features only a few knobs for choosing your sound, that way it is guaranteed to stay out of your way and aid in sweet sweet music making. This is the fifth release in the series following some drums, a piano, and various string instruments. This time around they have gotten to the grind and recorded a flavorful Electric Piano instrument for free download. Split Stereo Panning – FREE Rack from AfroDJMac AfroDJMac just released a FREE Ableton Rack for taking advantage of True Stereo Panning in Ableton Live 10. This option is new to Ableton Live, meaning that stereo audio can now be truly split to either side. Previously in Live 9, what we had was not true stereo panning. If you had stereo audio and panned to either side on a channel you would lose material from the opposite side. Now you can send left to right and vice versa. We’re quite thankful for all the updates Ableton made for the newest version of Live and this is a small but powerful tool. All you have to do is right-click on the pan control to switch between Stereo and Stereo Split.
