Beat Lab Academy – Now Available Worldwide
Beat Lab Academy Beat Lab Academy is an Ableton Certified Training Center born in Los Angeles, California. It’s the brainchild of Yeuda Ben-Atar, who founded the school in 2014. Unsatisfied with how modern music production was being taught via archaic methods – he decided to start a unique music production school with a community-driven focus in Eagle Rock, LA. Seven years on from that inception, the school has outgrown its humble home on Colorado Boulevard, as its online course has attracted students from Mexico all the way to Japan. The pandemic in 2020, and the rise of online – has only accelerated its worldwide growth. In this article, we bid farewell to our physical campus, and reflect on some of the fond memories there – as we welcome this next chapter of our growth. su_divider top=”no” size=”1″ Our Origin Story Yeuda’s Journey It all started with our founder & …

What Games Can Teach You About Music Games and music have always been intricately intertwined.  Red Brick highlights how music completes the video game experience through sound symbolism as well as movement. It would be difficult to separate the ominous setting of Dark Souls from its soundtrack. Or to experience the speed of Super Mario Odyssey without the melody that follows in the background. The 8-bit era of games is a rabbit hole worthy of exploring. These original game sounds were some of the first to be synthesized using computer chips as opposed to samples of audio recordings imported into the game. These sounds have become iconic and have weaved their way through pop culture for decades. With nostalgia for 8-Bit era aesthetics and sounds at an all-time high, we are seeing musicians draw inspiration from these vintage games and sounds in new and innovative ways. The genres …

LFO Tool Presets for Ableton Shaper  To celebrate Ableton Live 10 release we’re giving away a free pack of presets for the new Shaper Max for Live devices included in Ableton Suite.  The Shaper tool is a smart LFO that allows you to draw custom waveshapes to modulate anything. Simply click the map button and then hit any knob, fader or button you want in Ableton. You can even map it to plugins.  This device reminded us the wonderful LFO Tool plugin from Xfer Records (makers of Serum).  The first thing we did is recreated all the presets that are included with the LFO tool to use inside the Shaper.   This will give you tons of Side Chain curves, modulation patterns and other experimental shapes to play around with.  Try to map it to volume, filter cutoff, pitch, wavetable position, pan or anything …
