LABS – FREE Piano and Strings VST from Spitfire Audio A few months ago Spitfire Audio had announced they were preparing an audio library for release on their own platform, and just recently they finally delivered. LABS – an acronym for Let’s All Be Something – is now available to download for FREE from the LABS website. The plugin comes in VST/AU form as it is now a standalone plugin as opposed to previously only being operable in Kontakt. The plan is to release new instruments every month, but for now, you can utilize the Soft Piano and String libraries. Soft Piano is the first library available and is described as, “Recorded at Air Edel Studios, this sound has become a favourite of music makers across the globe. Maths – FREE Plugin from SocaLabs Socalabs recently released a wild plugin called Maths. Maths is a FREE plugin and quite different from plugins you may be used to seeing as it produces no explicit effect but works based on user input formulas. These formulas operate as functions and process the audio signal based on your equations. The interface lacks sliders and faders dedicated to singular purposes but instead features two function boxes dedicated to the left and right stereo channels and four knobs that can be assigned parameters. The knobs are capable of being automated within your DAW for further customization. Maths features 25 built-in functions, fourteen operators, and one ternary operator; together these make it a powerful plugin if you’re up for the challenge. Polyverse released “Wider,” a stereo widener plugin that is modeled after the same feature found in their AMAZING Manipulator plugin.
