DAW Cassette – Klevgrand Brings Back the Grit

DAW Cassette – Klevgrand Brings Back the Grit This week we want to share with you Klevgrand’s new plugin, DAW Cassette. DAW Cassette is a cassette tape emulation software that can immediately bring you back to the late 80’s/early 90’s for that classic sound only found on cassette. We played around with the plugin and it was extremely impressive, and we’re not being too generous, this was one of the coolest plugins we’ve reviewed in a while. Read our review then below that read an interview we had with the developers of DAW Cassette from Klevgrand. The interface is fun and easy to experiment with using the 6 buttons and 6 knobs to control each parameter. From left to right you have control over the Tape Quality, Head Quality, and Motor Quality, Input Gain, Output Gain, and finally a Dry/Wet Mix. The buttons available can alter the tape’s materials from Normal, …

Booms and Claps – Try Out Roland’s New 808/909 VSTs for FREE Roland announced to the world in January that they were to bring an updated hardware version of the classic 808 to market, the TR-8S. This was exciting news for everyone who has heard of the famed 808 but never had the opportunity to experience the real thing, but those who are more software prone we were still left with less-than-faithful recreations and knock-off emulations. Now, we all have the opportunity to use a certified official software version of the original 808 rhythm machine and its cousin the 909. Roland added these instruments to their Roland Cloud service, but you can now try them out for free without registering for their cloud. Though it is not a permanent license, users can try out the VST/AU plugins for 30-day trial periods without having to enter credit card info either. Roland said …

VSTSID – FREE Commodore 64 Synth

VSTSID – FREE Commodore 64 Synth Igorski recently announced the release of a free VST plugin that emulates the sounds of the original Commodore 64 system – VSTSID. The plugin is designed to resemble the web-based plugin WebSID which is a fun experiment by the same developers built for Google Chrome. VSTSID is exactly the same as WebSID except it is designed for use in your DAW as a VST or VST3 plugin; VSTSID features a Ring Modulator in place of the Delay effect seen on the Web version. VSTSID emulates the sound of the Commodore 64 which is known for its infamous 8-bit arpeggiator. Aside from the ring modulator the adjustments that are possible to make to the timbre of the sound are quite limited. Despite the filter effect not being true to the original, the sound of the pulse-width modulation found on the Commodore 64 computers is quite accurately emulated here in the plugin …

Free Binaural Plugin – Sennheiser AMBEO Orbit

Free Binaural Plugin – Sennheiser AMBEO Orbit Sennheiser just released a free binaural panner plugin designed for mixing sound in a 3D space. This plugin is straightforward to use with a clean interface and simple controls. The idea is to place sounds within a 3D field of space without losing any quality in the overall sound, and AMBEO accomplishes this quite gracefully. This tool is specially designed to work with your surround sound mixing but will enhance any panning in stereo-based projects.       An Azimuth wheel dominates the majority of the user interface where you can control the stereo placement of your sound. Click and drag the wheel, click a position, or type in the exact degree and the wheel will follow. In the bottom right are controls for Clarity and Width, the former affects the coloration being performed by the application and the latter affects how much space …
