Teacher Spotlight | Gabe Lehner | Songwriting + Live Tech
Gabe Lehner is one of Beat Lab’s newer instructors, but he is no stranger to the industry. He has been producing, performing, and engineering professionally for 24 years under the moniker: 9 Theory.
Gabe’s love for guitar and songwriting slowly evolved into an obsession as he became proficient with producing, recording, and making beats. Gabe has come into his own after working with numerous bands and on musical projects as a producer with a knack for effectively blending genres across electronic music, indie rock, and hip-hop. The result is a wholly original, unique sound that he is renowned for.
This unique style of head-bobbing genre-blending has also led to a number of official remixes for various artists including Jason Mraz, Emancipator, and Zion I.
Gabe has yers of experience as a charismatic performer playing hundreds of live shows and performing at music festivals such as Coachella, Lightning In A Bottle, Camp Bisco, and Electric Forest, and opening for artists including Thievery Corporation, Bonobo, STS9, Beats Antique, and Emancipator.
All of his experience lends to his teaching style here at Beat Lab. He can share insight into mixing just as easily as he can set up his live show rig.
One of the many benefits of having Gabe, and the rest of the teaching staff, around is that they are actively working in the industry outside of teaching. As the industry adapts and evolves, so do they, and so do the classes at Beat Lab!
You can visit one of our classes where Gabe teaches, for free, in-person, OR virtually, anytime! Until then, check out some of his work below.
