  1. 4

It was a great course. I felt I learned a lot.

My only only two issues that I saw was that throughout the course, there were a lot of typos/grammatical mistakes within the lessons that made it sometimes difficult to understand what was being discussed.

Also, in class, the lessons moves super fast some times before we get a chance to really digest the course material or follow along.

Other than that, it’s been a great course.

  2. Good place to start

If you have little to no experience, this level is for you!
Instructors make sure you get the material and work with you.
Plus they’re just cool people to be around and learn from!

  3. Amazing course, the cocktail of Sensei Yeuda and Mike is brilliant, two different teaching styles yet both great teachers. Thanks gentlemen, looking forward to learning more from you all.

  4. Level I

Level I was truly a once in a life time experience and also was the best intro to Ableton live and intro to becoming a producer. Level I set the bar. Here I learned what it would take and the tools I would need to begin the journey of actually becoming a music producer.

  5. The best!

Wouldn’t change a thing about this experience! Even as an online student, I felt connected and part of the beatlab academy! Amazing resources, tutorials and instructors! Amazing!

  6. :)

great start to 4 levels of music production knowledge

  7. Ableton - Level 1

This was such an awesome experience! It was a very fast paced learning environment. But Yeuda and Mike were great about answering questions and helping us all keep up. I was fairly new to Ableton, so there was a learning curve. Still, our class was encouraged to help each other out where we could. The atmosphere was so conducive to learning and growing! I’m excited for the next 3 levels of classes!

  8. Great Course!

Had an awesome time throughout this whole course and couldn’t be happier with the knowledge I’ve attained within Ableton. Resources are very on point for the most part (some links are dead and need to be updated). Can’t wait to see what Level 2 has in store!

Beatlab being my first steps in my musical path, I’m really glad I chose this place because of all the care and support everyone, including the classmates has given me. Thank you for making this place comfortable for anybody to express themselves and treating every one us like a family.

  10. Super fun

Had a blast on level 1. Looking forward to the next!

  11. A Must Do!

There is always room for growth. And learning from the other students.

  12. I freaking Love this schoo!

I FREAKING LOVE WHAT I’M LEARNING! The teachers are nerds for this stuff which is the best kind of teacher!

  13. Very good content!!!

Really helped me to better understand Ableton Live as a tool, and opened up plenty of creative ideas and possibilities to my music production workflow.

  14. Fun

This was a great intro class and i learned so much . I have been using ableton since 2016, thats almost 3 years and this class made me learn stuff I had no idea I could do.

  15. Awesome!

Dope course! I learned so much!

I wish we could have stayed on music theory for one more week!

  16. Wonderful

Loved it, felt sometimes like I was being hit with a firehose amount of information, but that’s a great thing. Just begs to come back to the material over and over again. Exactly what I was looking for.

  17. Great Course

I really enjoyed the music theory section as well as song arrangement. The homework was fun and class time flies by.

  18. great work

    most informative

  19. Such a great jump into ableton

    loved it!

  20. Learned a lot - can't wait to keep going!!!

The course was amazing for me to learn and start to really add clarity to my Ableton/producing knowledge (it had a lot of holes in it). It is quite an undertaking and an achievement to teach this program and all its basic concepts in a clear and concise format. My only critic would be that I think it would be helpful, especially for those with limited Ableton experience prior, to use each unit to build on and towards a final project. I noticed it seemed like people had difficulty carrying ideas and concepts from the previous lesson forward with them. It might be worth exploring the idea of literally starting your final project on day one by warping a provided sample and building each week instead of kind of restarting with little mini assignments. Might help add clarity and strengthen peoples learning chain. I would also say that there was a lot of letting people kind of do what they want, which can be good to promote their creativity, but I feel like in a class setting like this, and with trying to build basic Ableton/producing concepts, it might be better to mandate a little harder re. how assignments are completed and what is expected and more importantly why we are doing the assignment and how doing it this way might give you the tools to create your own work later on down the road. There were times people wanted to have a party on the roof before ground had even been broken on digging the basement (if that makes sense). In all though, it has been invaluable to me personally and professionally and I am super excited to be at BeatLab and can’t wait to continue the journey and process with both myself and everyone else. Thanks!!!

  21. beautiful course

    beautiful course loved it!

  22. Good understand of basics

Thorough lessons on ableton and music theory basics. I, personally, could’ve used more attention on arrangement, but that also comes with practice.

  23. Great so far!

The teaching style and diligence in explaining different subjects is great!

  24. Great course!

I love the depth this went into, and the links that are given for extra videos and other websites to explore the concepts more deeply and fully were extremely helpful. I took so many notes. Only giving 4 out 5 stars because the website experience could be a little better as well as typos and maybe making the videos a little cleaner or editing down the videos just a bit for the online-only students. Thanks so much!

  25. level 1 review

Well rounded course. Beatlab focuses on musicianship and it is nice to have a solid foundation in music theory when learning ableton. Thank you!

  26. Excellent fundamentals review for me

I considered skipping Level 1 initially but I’m glad I took it, particularly because of the emphasis on theory. I’ve always struggled with music theory and I gained a newfound appreciation for it, as well as learned about it in some new ways that really helped me to conceptualize it more clearly. Great stuff and all of the teachers are amazing.

  27. Best decision I ever made. Got my creative life to flow

I have studied different software in many schools and situations, and was an Apple Final Cut Pro, Motion, (some Soundtrack Pro) trainer for many years, and have tried to delve deeper into music production software many times, once with a private trainer, but never got very far and was frustrated at the surface of the interface without the ability to engage with more power and comfort. Comfort is key and when you can be and the material is delivered at a pace for the student, not according to the trainer’s ego or impatience, you find that you actually are deep in the program and all the things you dreamed about doing but maybe didn’t even know you dreamed of doing them because you didn’t know the tools’ potential, become true, as in, you can begin to paint your work in your head. If I had found this concern and level of care and the clarity and focus of this course years ago, I would have likely been happily producing for years. But here I am and thanks to Beatlab Academy and the expertise, imagination, creativity and sheer joy the Yeuda and all the instructors take in Ableton Live, my creative sonic life is flowing. And the payment plan is extremely generous and made this possible. Plan to take many classes after this six-month intensive since the engagement is so stimulating. A+++

  28. Amazed at My Progress!

Level 1 was great! I came from a musical background, so I can’t really speak of my experience from a complete beginner standpoint (like coming from no musical background at all.) However, I had very very little knowledge on how to use Ableton prior to the course. After taking the Saturday-class of Level 1, I gained a significant amount of confidence and ability to navigate and use the basics of Ableton to make a good track. The music theory portion of Level 1 was also very helpful. Music theory is complex, but the instructors are really good at explaining foundational music theory concepts that help you get started on making your music in easy to understand terms. Another thing I really liked about my experience thus far is the atmosphere and vibes of the academy. My classmates are cool and we all encourage each other to get better, and the instructors are super knowledgeable, supportive, and personable.

  29. Level 1 - foundation of music production

What an awesome experience with so much valuable information. Level 1 definitely provides you with the fundamentals of music production especially in the realms of Ableton Live. After this course my workflow has improved drastically and I am taking ideas into finished songs. I can’t wait to learn sound design and mixing/mastering techniques to master my craft.

  30. Foundations of Music

Loved The class and the incorporation of Music Theory in relation to Ableton.
Amazing course Yeuda, Mike And Gabe are Ableton Wizards!
    Thank you Beatlab!

    On to the next Level.

  31. Very good foundation course

Thank you for the foundation course. It was great even if I have been using Ableton for more than 5 years now. There were still some tips and tricks that I learn in the material shared in here. So I would recommend anyone to join this course.

  32. Connect the dots

This first course connected all dots for me, after spending a couple of months on Ableton on my own. Thanks Yeuda, Mike and Gabe for all the info, tips, tricks, inspiration and confidence. 🙂 I’m going for Course II
