Beat Lab Fresh Tracks January 2021

Fresh Tracks of the Month – January 2021 We are bringing in 2021 with a showcase of our favorite Alumni releases from the past month.  From ambient waterfalls to wompy bass lines, these tracks offer a playful range of musical talent and vibe that are as fresh as the powder snow on Mountain High today.  So sit back, relax, and get down!   su_divider top=”no” size=”1″ AllieyXO feat Britt Lari – Deseos  Alliey XO crafts a beautiful winter bop with the singer and Beat Lab alumn Britt Lari.  XO’s production builds a cool-toned background for Lari’s yearning Latin vocal performance while airy synth plucks push the melodic power of this track into another realm.  The track is driven forward by a pulsing kick that culminates in a liberating final drop.  Reminiscent of cool nights near so-cal beaches, this song is indie-pop meets deep house in a beautiful Latin winter spell …

Fresh Tracks of the Month – July 2020 Part 2

Fresh Tracks of the Month – July 2020 Part 2 This is the second part of our July series of Fresh Tracks of the Month. Below we’ve got a few submissions from our alumni community, and others from the general public. It continues to be so amazing to be able to promote music from smaller artists on the rise. Listen below. su_divider top=”no” Nawy – Deep Therapy Nawy’s Deep Therapy brings the club vibes to everyone who is unable to go to the clubs right now (mostly everyone). Its clean production and evolving basslines draw you in quite well and remind of us the techno-laden good times pre-COVID. It feels like a modern classic and hits all the right notes for a great club track. If only festival season weren’t obliterated this year, it may have made it onto the main stages. Put your dancing shoes on. Listen below.   Nawy …

Fresh Tracks of the Month – July 2020 Part 1

Fresh Tracks of the Month – July 2020 Part 1 Last month we released a comprehensive but inherently incomplete list of influential Black musicians from the last century up until now. While we compile our next list we have decided to do a two-part Fresh Tracks series for this month. There are artists still trying to get their names out there and we want to showcase them. This is part 1 of the July series, listen below. su_divider top=”no” PC Muñoz – All the Time Feat. Matthew Szemela PC Muñoz submitted a refreshingly funky track to us for this month’s article. All the Time is a cool, laid-back jukebox slammer that oozes attitude. It’s reminiscent of Isaac Hayes’ Shaft theme and anything from Curtis Mayfields’ catalog, which is pleasantly topical given the politically charged year we’re having. Though the song lacks the lyrical content present in the artists’ music we …

Fresh Tracks of the Month – June 2020 – Influential Black Musicians

Fresh Tracks of the Month – June 2020 – Influential Black Musicians It’s been a chaotic spring and summer, with global protests calling for justice for George Floyd, and adjacent Black Lives Matter marches. No Matter your opinion on the politics of it, we are all people that deserve love and life. As a music school, we owe part of ourselves to musicians who came before us. In America, many of the most influential musicians in our history have been Black People of Color. With this month’s edition of Fresh Tracks, we’ll shout out some of our favorite Black Musicians that got us to where we are today. It’s undeniable, Black musicians shaped the way modern music sounds. There’s no way we could include ALL of the Black musicians we love, so we tried to showcase a few from each decade of the 1900s. Listen below. su_divider top=”no” Louis Armstrong …

Fresh Tracks of the Month – May 2020

Fresh Tracks of the Month – May 2020 May has come and the sun is out, welcome back to another spectacular edition of Fresh Tracks of the Month! This week we have incredible talent to showcase, as per usual, and are excited to share. Many of us are still experiencing lockdowns in our cities so as long as we’re inside we may as well enjoy some tune. Listen below! su_divider top=”no” jackLNDN – Deeper EP jackLNDN’s new Deeper EP features his signature style through a delightfully packaged series of songs. His take on ambient house music works so damn well in this climate that it’s almost too good. The opening title track, Deeper, perfectly introduces the EP with his smooth vocals and addictive synth stabs. The rhythm is gentle enough to not overwhelm the beautiful instrumentation but strong enough to keep you moving along to the beat. The rest of …
