Fresh Tracks of the Month May 13, 2019

Welcome back! It’s been a few weeks since we’ve reviewed some music, but now we’re back and everything is okay. We’ve decided to change our format to monthly articles. Fear not, they feature the same high quality of songs for you to feast on! Listen below. Rich Fry – Drink the Magic Rich Fry’s Drink the Magic encourages delightful mischief in auditory form. The instrumentation balances a bad attitude with an optimistic reach for the stars all at once. The song made us feel like fighting, dancing, laughing, and drinking. The ringing guitars certainly help impart this feeling alongside the singer’s high-pitched encouragement. Listen below. Petey – Apple TV Remote Odd, fantastic, and uplifting – these are some words we’d use to describe Petey’s song Apple TV Remote. The title and topic of the song are both relatable (who HASN”T misplaced their TV remote) and nonsensical. The production is on …

LABS – Instrument Update

The last time we wrote about Spitfire Audio’s Let’s All Be Something (LABS) free instrument series we covered their Electric Piano. Well, it’s been a few months and they’ve been churning out instruments since then. In this article, we’ll cover the latest in a series of instruments from the plugin maker. Charango The first instrument to come after the LABS Electric Piano was Charango. The Charango is a stringed instrument similar to a guitar, but native to the Andean culture. It is in the lute family of stringed instruments. It has ten strings that come arranged in five groups of two. This charango — an Andean guitar-like instrument — was recorded back in 2006 by Christian Henson on a KM184 mic in his Soho flat, played by his brother Joe. This was the instrument that inspired Christian and Paul to create Spitfire Audio. It plays quite smoothly for a stringed instrument which can always be tricky …

Top Earplugs 2019

Ears – they are a key piece in making music, listening to music, and communication in general. We would even go as far as to say that they are necessary to be a Creative in the music industry, but some people have proven otherwise. Did you know that the internal parts of the human ear are one of the few parts of the body that cannot naturally heal themselves? If you’ve gone to a few too many concerts without hearing protection you’ve pretty much sealed your fate. Diminished hearing from then on out is guaranteed. That’s why hearing protection is so darn important, especially if you plan on using those ears to make some money. We’ve all tried foam earplugs, and while they certainly dampen the volume at a concert they take away all the sweet details of the music as well. Boo! Most of us would like to still …

Type Beats

Selling beats online has become easier and easier over the last decade, thanks to a number of reasons. The first and foremost is how the internet has expanded into every facet of our lives – no one could have predicted the outcome and influence for producers. The second is how music technology has improved. Access, ease, and versatility with these programs is the best its ever been. Producers can create beats on their phones, and rappers can record lyrics as well. When left to the devices of internet savvy individuals, Type Beats where an inevitability. Type Beats began because someone decided to throw the name of a more famous artist onto their own beat. “Jason Derulo Type Beat,” would garner far more attention than a song named with personal meaning from an unknown producer. It’s simple marketing. Attach yourself to a trend, or something with more reach than yourself. In …
