Abletunes Knobs – Single-knob Plug-ins: Drive, Attack, and Space ( Free Download)

Abletunes Knobs – Single-knob Plug-ins: Drive, Attack, and Space ( Free Download) Abletunes Knobs is a free VST bundle that includes three separate single-knob plugins, Drive, Attack, and Space. Abletunes mapped several parameters to single knobs limiting the versatility and customization, but their effectiveness comes from their simplicity. They are incredibly easy to use and can add a lot of character to drums, baselines, and synths simply by adjusting the knobs. Knobs also use a very low percent of the CPU so it won’t interfere with playback or slow down Ableton during a live set.  The Drive knob combines analog style saturation and an overdrive. It adds some crunchy wide-band distortion, giving the sounds extra tone, color, and grit. When set to 100% you can get some filthy sounding bass sounds with great energy. The Attack knob is a simplified transient shaper without a sustain knob. It can give more …

HOLY SCALE! Chord Progressions Made Easy (Free Download)

HOLY SCALE! Chord Progressions Made Easy (Free Download) No matter what genre of music you produce, knowledge of music theory is a must. It’s unavoidable. From uptempo EDM to a chill Hip-Hop groove, the way the music flows and comes together is all tied in some way to theory. Music theory has always been considered a type of pre-requisite before attempting to venture into production and composition, and for good reason. It’s crucial to understand the relationship between all the many moving parts that makes up a well-rounded piece of music. But as music production has steadily evolved and grown more reliant on digital technology, so too has the framework for understanding theory. Now, countless producers are capable of creating incredibly engaging hits with a very basic understanding of music theory. Seemingly gone are the days of sheet music and intensive training. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Music theory …

Sweetcase- Vintage Electric Piano VST/AU Plug-In (Free Download)

Sweetcase- FREE Vintage Electric Piano VST/AU Plug-In NoiseAsh Audio Tools has released a Vintage Electronic Piano Plug-In most notably named Sweetcase available for both OSX and Windows in VST/AU format. Its interface is simple, the sound quality is decent, but most importantly, it’s FREE! Who doesn’t like free stuff?? With the high costs of some Electronic Piano plug-ins nowadays this is a bargain not to pass up. Sweetcase’s easy-to-use setup has all the modulation controls required to get that vintage sound you’re going for. Most of the sound produced can bring forth that old school jingle jazz vibe. The plug-in isn’t much of a CPU eater so additional processing won’t be much of an issue if you’re trying to be creative and punch its sound even louder. I especially like messing around with the Intensity and Speed modulated with the Pan, Expression and Pitch types to create a weird atmospheric type …

Removing Breath Sounds Using Live Effects The amount of hardware equipment, software programs and plug-ins designed for the current-day music producer is mind-boggling. There are tools and technology that can help you better forge through every aspect of production. With the seemingly endless array of tools available designed to enhance workflow and improve audio quality, it is important to know when it’s time to make that investment, and when it’s time to troubleshoot and problem solve on the fly. Maybe you’ve got your track well underway, but it feels like it’s slightly off. Or maybe you’ve just laid down your vocal track but wish it were a bit more crisp and clean. The take is great, but some breathing can be heard and some of the frequencies just seem to clash when you try to mix. Either way, there are ways around these issues that you can tackle right in …

Led Zeppelin Copyright Infringement Trial

Led Zeppelin Copyright Infringement Trial For those of you who may or may not know, Led Zeppelin, one of the most influential and trend-setting rock bands in the history of music is currently on trial for copyright infringement. More specifically, they are being accused of lifting the opening of “Stairway to Heaven,” arguably their most iconic track of all-time from “Taurus” by Spirit, a late 60’s psychedelic rock group based out of Los Angeles. For all the die-hard rock fans that have been waiting for a Led Zeppelin reunion, I’m certain that this was not what they were hoping for or envisioned, myself included. Because the trial, “Michael Skidmore vs. Led Zeppelin et al.” is still currently ongoing, I feel I must reserve judgement. And considering my love for Led Zeppelin’s music and the sheer talent of the guitar prodigy known as Jimmy Page, it is personally hard for me …
