LOOP- Music Maker Summit Where does music stand? Where is music headed? What are the newest techniques being used? All this and more will be thought of, imagined, and answered at LOOP: an Ableton event held in Berlin, Germany. What LOOP aims to do is connect over 400 creative minds to bring forward there techniques, ideas, and visions into conversation. Over the course of three days, from October 30th to August 1st, there will be a series of lectures, workshops and performances covering the newest innovations in Ableton. During the day talks will be given by various creators like Robert Henke, Holly Herndon, Young Guru, Matthew Herbert and more. MIDI Tricks #2 – Custom Arpeggiator   What does it mean to Arpeggiate? Arpeggio is when you breakdown a chord to it’s individual notes and play them separately in a sequence. Here is an example using a C Major7th chord. Chord as a Block     Arpeggiated chord broken down to the individual notes playing 1/16 notes.     We can of course play arpeggiate in any sequence we want and even take notes out or add more notes. In this example we’re playing the notes of the chords in a downward motion and taking out the last note(C3).   divider style=”clear” Ableton Live comes with it’s own Arpeggiator MIDI effect. Side Brain and Paul Dateh Perform at Low End Theory LA   Ever since moving to LA from Israel back in 2010, Yeuda’s dreamed of performing at the legendary Low End Theory. Low End has become to be one of the most influential venues in LA for electronic music and up-and-coming musicians, with the added bonus of seemingly random drop-ins by music legends, like Thom Yorke or Erykah Badu. So you can imagine Yeuda’s excitement when he was invited to play there with Paul Dateh. They pulled out all the stops for the show: In true Side Brain fashion, that means lots of controllers, including his original Nintendo 8-button and Power Glove.
